The fruit trees are doing super well this year!
The Fruit trees this year are bursting at the seams with fresh fruit. Around town there are so many trees with fruit all over the ground. Much of it going to waste. People should eat more fruit so that so much of it won't go to waste. Do you know that most of it is free?! Just ask the owners!
Antelope Complex
The Antelope Complex burned about 23,000 acres in July of 2007. It smoked out the greater Susanville area. We live with fire around here. Late summer lightning storms coming rambling through striking the mountains surrounding the communities.
Life in the woods is safe as long as you have defensible space and are willing to take the time to prepare before the fire rolls through. More than likely your house will be safe if you are prepared.
The fire safe councils in Lassen, Plumas and Modoc counties can help you prepare for wildland fire.
Susanville California
Susanville California is located in Northeastern California. There are very few people living out here. It’s a nice area really. There are large ranches, big trees in the forest, lakes, fishing, hunting, biking, gardening, honey bees, chickens, and much more. It’s easy to get to Reno, our closest big city, at only an hour or so drive. Redding is about 2 hours away.
Mt Lassen offers amazing hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter and is just down the road. Lake Almanor and Eagle Lake offer great fishing and boating opportunities. The Susanville Rancheria has 14 miles of new mountain biking trails built by the IMBA. Lots of fun. Golfing is inexpensive and fun at Diamond Mountain golf course.
Overall, it’s not a bad place to live if you like the rural environment and easy living.
